A Japanese restaurant known for its Wagyu sandwich opened a location in Madrid, and a Kansas-based Wagyu market made its debut in Texas. Additionally, there were reports of upscale dining experiences featuring Wagyu beef in various locations.
The market for Wagyu beef and genetics also saw some movement, with the average price of Wagyu semen coming in at $410 per straw across 356 tracked listings. Certain marquee sires, such as Rueshaw and Itozurudoi, commanded higher prices, at $21,000 and $14,500 respectively. The choice boxed beef cutout price was $398.94 per hundredweight.
There was also a report of a significant sale of a cattle portfolio, valued at $255.6 million, by Rural Funds Group in Australia. This sale may have implications for the industry, particularly with regards to foreign investment. Only one new listing was posted on WagyuTank this week.
