Z278 Hirashigetayasu is a distinct bull from the Westholme foundation sire Hirashigetayasu '001' already on this roster — he is 001's son, profiled separately in the V-Bar-V Semen Services 2009 Fall Sire Directory. His dam, X106 Ohyurihime, is a daughter of Kitateruyasudoi '003,' and his great-grandsire is Itomoritaka '002' — meaning Z278 uniquely carries all three original Westholme import bulls in a single pedigree, a great balance of Kedaka, Fujiyoshi and Tajima. The catalog describes him as very thick and correct, with daughters noted for good udders; his calves were reported born easily despite being somewhat larger-framed than the Wagyu average.
