Sakaehikari
Mixed · exported 1998 · Westholme
Sakaehikari is one of the named foundation dams of Chris Walker's Westholme importation, the roughly 84 black females sourced from ET Japan Company in Hokkaido during 1997-1998 — the deepest single pool of Japanese Wagyu females exported before the ban. The females spanned about 44 Fujiyoshi, 28 Kedaka (eleven Hongen-registered) and 12 Tajiri and were paired with the bulls Hirashige-Tayasu, Itomoritaka and Kitateruyasu Doi to add milk, frame and size to marbling. Sakaehikari is documented among the dams that bred on in Australia, part of the foundation of the modern Westholme herd run by the Australian Agricultural Company. Her individual pedigree is not published.
