Masako

cow

Mixed · exported 1998 · Westholme

Masako is one of the named foundation dams of Chris Walker's Westholme importation — roughly 84 black females brought from ET Japan Company in Hokkaido during 1997 and 1998, the largest female export pool before Japan closed live shipments. The consignment carried about 44 Fujiyoshi, 28 Kedaka (eleven Hongen-registered) and 12 Tajiri females, chosen to add milk, frame and size to marbling, alongside the bulls Hirashige-Tayasu, Itomoritaka and Kitateruyasu Doi. Masako is documented among the dams that bred on in Australia. Her individual strain and pedigree are not published in the accessible sources. She forms part of the genetic base of the modern Westholme/AACo herd.
