Kanetani

cow

Mixed · exported 1994 · Mannett Group

Kanetani was one of four black foundation females the Mannett Group (World K's) imported from Japan in August 1994, together with Okahana, Nakayuki and Nakagishi 5 and the bulls Kenhanafuji and Takazakura. Arriving a year after the celebrated Suzutani/Rikitani/Okutani trio, this group expanded the maternal foundation of the early North American fullblood herd, producing registered calves such as Tanitsuru, Nakazakura, Kitaguni Jr and Reiko. Public breeder records give little individual detail on Kanetani's pedigree, registration or birth year. Her importance lies in her membership of the small, closed set of authentic Japan-exported foundation females underpinning the breed abroad.
