Itoreiko

cow

Fujiyoshi · exported 1998 · Westholme

Itoreiko is one of the named Westholme foundation dams, part of Chris Walker's ~84-head female importation from ET Japan Company in Hokkaido across 1997-1998 — the deepest single pool of Japanese Wagyu females exported before the ban. The founding sires were Hirashige-Tayasu (Kedaka), Itomoritaka (Fujiyoshi) and Kitateruyasu Doi (Tajiri). Her 'Ito' name element tentatively associates her with the Fujiyoshi/Itozakura strain that made up the largest bloc (about 44 head) of the consignment, though her individual pedigree is not published. She bred on in Australia and forms part of the genetic base of the modern Westholme herd run by the Australian Agricultural Company.
