Fuyuko

Fuyuko was one of the nine red Akaushi foundation females in Dr. Al and Marie Wood's 1994 importation from Kumamoto Prefecture and one of the seven acquired to found HeartBrand Ranch in Harwood, Texas. Her cohort — bred before export to the top Japanese sires Namimaru and Dai 10 Mitsumaru — represents the complete and closed founding gene pool of fullblood Akaushi outside Japan, now registered through both the American Wagyu Association and the Akaushi Association of America. Individual pedigree records for Fuyuko were not found in public sources. She is significant as one of the small nucleus of genuine red foundation dams behind every registered Akaushi abroad.
