Dai 6 Seizan

bull

Mixed · exported 1998

Dai 6 Seizan, tagged '006' and sometimes called simply 'the 6th Westholme bull,' is the second of the three black sires whose semen Westholme imported from ET Japan (Hokkaido) in 1998 with a consignment of 59 females. Genetically he is one of the more interesting composites among the foundation sires: an Itozakura/Tajima cross that layers Tottori/Kedaka growth and maternal ability, Itozakura (with roots in Okayama and Fujiyoshi) for frame and size, and Kikunori Doi marbling introduced through the bull Kanehagi. That blend made him a valuable tool for breeders wanting to add growth and body volume without abandoning marbling potential, complementing the pure-Tajima marbling of '003' Kitateruyasudoi and the Kedaka growth of '005' Shigefuku within the same import group. Like the other Westholme semen sires he never physically left Japan as a live animal and travelled via Australia, which is why he is routinely absent from live-import foundation rosters despite being a genuine exported foundation sire.

Registry record

BloodlineAn Itozakura/Tajima cross carrying Tottori/Kedaka growth and maternal traits plus Itozakura (Okayama/Fujiyoshi) size, with Kikunori Doi marbling introduced through Kanehagi. A deliberately composite growth-plus-marbling sire.
BreedFullblood Black
ImporterWestholme (Chris Walker) via ET Japan Company, Hokkaido
Carcass / marblingBalances size and marbling: growth and maternal strength from the Tottori/Kedaka side, frame/size from Itozakura, and enhanced marbling contributed through Kikunori Doi via the bull Kanehagi. Positioned as a growth-with-quality composite rather than a pure marbling bull.
