Chiyotake

cow

Fujiyoshi · exported 1997 · Sumo Wagyu

Chiyotake is the foundation dam of one of the six Takeda Farm cow families that Simon Coates of Sumo Wagyu brought to Australia as embryos (56 calves) from Shogo Takeda's celebrated Hokkaido herd. In Takeda's own maternal-line records she sits in the sequence Sakae 2 - Chiyotake - Chiyotake 5. Her daughters Chiyotake 3 and Chiyotake 5 each produced a daughter (Chiyotake 8 and Chiyotake 9) sired by the great Takeda bull Itomichi, and the family became a cornerstone of the Sumo Wagyu program and, through it, of Australian Wagyu breeding. Because she entered as embryos rather than as a live import, her exact birth data and registration are not published, but her line is unusually well attested for a Takeda female.
