Takazakura
Mixed · exported 1994 · 355 AU progeny
WKS Takazakura (FB2892) was one of two Black Wagyu bulls imported in 1994 by the Mannett Group (later World K's / Westholme), in the same shipment as Kenhanafuji. He was sired by Takaei J1412 out of Dai Ni Sakura 7; Takaei was one of the best-known sons of the great Tajima sire Yasufuku J930, making Takazakura one of relatively few Yasufuku grandsons available outside Japan. His pedigree also draws on several noted Takeda lineages. Unlike the pure-marbling Tajima specialists, Takazakura is valued as a growth-and-carcass sire that adds frame, body length and muscle while retaining strong meat quality and calm temperament. In a large Australian progeny test roughly 1,200 F1 calves fed for 540 days averaged about 1.87 lb per day gain with around 68% grading 9 or higher on the Australian marble scale, a standout commercial result. He recorded roughly 355 registered progeny in Australia. His birth year is not documented in the sources reviewed.
