005 Shigefuku 13M
Kedaka (Tottori)
005 Shigefuku 13M is the bull the V-Bar-V Semen Services Fall 2009 Sire Directory pictures under the heading '005 Shigefuku' — not the imported sire Shigefuku himself, but his son, out of Westholme Itoyasudoi (by Kitateruyasudoi ETJ 003 out of Kitatemako). The catalogue calls him 'a total outcross to the Wagyu genetics,' noting that his sire is the highest Kedaka-content bull outside Japan and that only two sons and two daughters of Shigefuku J1822 existed in the world at the time. When the Westholme group first saw him they are quoted saying he was 'the most promising bull at that time in the world.' He is described as well balanced and long, with good spring of rib, a thick loin, great feet and legs and an easy-keeping constitution, bringing plenty of milk to his daughters; every calf harvested by then had graded BMS 8-10. His 16/16 puts him at 44% Kedaka — among the highest Kedaka content of any bull in Australia — with 31% Tajima and 12% Tottori. Both sexed and unsexed semen were offered, at $75 and $50 per straw.
