Kikutsuru Doi
Tajima · exported 1997 · 40 AU progeny
Kikutsuru Doi (TF146, FB3615) is a Fullblood Black Tajima sire and one of the most marbling-focused of Takeda's exports. He is the first of two sons of the top Tajima Doi sire Tanifuku Doi to become available outside Japan (his brother is Kikuterushige TF150), and his dam is Kikutsuru J978542, the legendary 'Hyogo Cow,' considered one of the most important cows of the Tajiri line and named for Hyogo, home prefecture of genuine Kobe beef. This pairing places him in the pure Tajima Kiku family renowned for the finest, best-tasting fat, the same maternal line behind Fukutsuru 068. He is a smaller-framed bull at just over 1,300 pounds, so breeders typically mate him to larger Wagyu females to lift their marbling while managing frame; used over Kinu 1 line cows he produces steers with extreme marbling and bulls with strong genetic potency. His semen is comparatively rare and his Australian progeny count is modest (about 40). Carrying the celebrated Doi and Hyogo-Cow blood, Kikutsuru Doi is a specialist marbling sire whose descendants anchor the high end of Tajima quality outside Japan.
