Michifuku
Tajima · exported 1993 · 5,597 AU progeny
Michifuku (FB1615) is one of the most influential marbling sires in Wagyu history and a cornerstone of the Tajima line that underpins Kobe beef. He was flown from Japan in July 1993 by the Mannett Group (which became World K's / Westholme) among the first Black Wagyu exported to North America, landing initially in Canada with the Wagyu Sekai program alongside Haruki 2 and a group of Tajima-influenced heifers. A 100% Tajima bull of the Yasumi-Doi family, he was sired by the celebrated Monjiro 11550 out of Michiko J655635. Michifuku is widely described as the best overall carcass bull ever to leave Japan, and he topped the U.S. Wagyu Sire Summary for marbling while ranking near the top for ribeye area. His genetics spread explosively through both American and Australian herds, with roughly 5,600 registered progeny in Australia alone, and he is frequently credited with keeping the early Fullblood population viable. Offspring are noted for thick, well-muscled builds, outstanding marbling and calm dispositions. His birth year is not authoritatively documented in accessible sources.
